5 List-Worthy Coastal Adventures

IMG_2073

The coast is where two worlds collide: land & water.

How they meet was never determined by us, we do not choose where the sandy beach lies or where the white cliffs of Dover fall. Instead it is decided for us; the beauty that rises from the depths of the underworld is indescribable by photos and words and only the people who are lucky enough to experience it understand the delicate roar it speaks.

The human ants, who believe they are so big, are proven to be no bigger than a speck when matched with the vast ocean world. To merge with water is an endless list. You walk, you stroll, you dive, you skip, you splash and for the adventurers soul, there is no better way to experience the blue unknown than to leap off a rocky cliff, dozens of feet from the waves they wish to meet.

Thousands of miles line coastal waters, but these fantasy cliffs and quaint towns are not always easy too find.

Somehow no matter where I am, my heart always leads me to water. Maybe it has something to do with this quote:

“We all come from the sea, but we are not all of the sea. Those of us who are, we children of the tides, must return to it again and again, until the day we don’t come back leaving only that which was touched along the way.”– Chasing Mavericks

Because of this love I have for open waters, I am going to share with you my top five coastal areas on my priority list for upcoming adventures.

5)Seychelle Islands

Pronounced Seashell islands, they are secluded and difficult to get to…but beyond beautiful. It’s like living in a postcard.

Location: Indian Ocean, about 1000 miles off the coast of Africa

Best feature: Privacy. It not only looks prettier than Fiji…but it’s also less crowded.

4)Phuket, Thailand

This is the adventure my heart has longed for the longest…oh Thailand, why must you be so far?!?

Location: Southwest coast of Thailand

Best Feature: Every. Single. Cliff. Also, the monkey beaches look extremely fun.

3) Cathedral Cove, New Zealand

Ever watched Chronicles of Narnia? If so, I think you might recognize it.

Location: Northern end of the North Island, New Zealand

Best Feature: The Arch. Standing under it would leave me speechless; Earth continues to baffle me with its never-ending beauty.

2)Alesund, Norway

Not only is the town stunning, but the lack of tourists give the ability for a hometown feel.

Location:Central Norway-West Coast

Best Feature: The view. It’s Norway so everywhere you look is breathtaking.

1) Cinque Terre, Italy

Stunning? Check. Romantic? Check. Beautiful coastline? Check.

Location: Western Italy-about two hours driving time from Florence.

Best Feature: The color and cliffs. It also seems like the perfect place to fall in love.

Take me away to the ocean. I want to hike miles and fall asleep on a beach so secluded another soul won’t be found. I want to sit on top of a cliff and gaze out at the blue beauty which constantly surrounds us. I want to watch a sunset that makes me cry, because it will remind me how beautiful life is.

I’ll leave this short blurb with the following:

We are stuck here on this planet, which is full of alluring surprises which we tend not to think of in daily life. As you drive your morning route to work, think of the place you wish to be sitting. Let that thought drive you to explore and conquer everything you ever wished to see. We stay on this planet for a short time, why have we been wasting so much of it lately? Whether it be the oceans, forests or cities that drive you to explore, you need to explore. Take the first step and the journey will begin. Pretty soon your dreams will surround you as you stand on top of that cliff or in the middle of the city center. No matter how far away it may seem, chase it. Trust me…I’ve done it.
